Aging-in-place is a phenomenon which occurs at all seniors housing complexes. Customarily, aged citizens who have become unable to totally care for their own needs have been transferred into a nursing home. Studies have found that most seniors reaching this condition need only minimal assistance rather than total care. Given these accommodations, many seniors can remain active and independent well beyond the time they normally would have been institutionalized.
It was the desire of the Director and members of the Sparta Senior Citizens Board to provide an assisted living facility to serve such a population. In response, HQW Architects designed a new 32-unit assisted care facility. The facility includes amenities such as a common dining room and full commercial kitchen, doctors and nurses offices, personal care room, craft / craft room, walking track, outdoor gathering spaces, television lounge, and enclosed porch.
