Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University http://www.kean.edu/libertyhall/index.html, home of New Jersey’s first elected governor and signer of the Constitution, William Livingston, has been a silent witness to more than 200 years of American history. Built in 1772, the originally designed 14-room Georgian Style home has grown into a 50-room Victorian-style mansion. The site houses extensive collections of antique furniture, ceramics, textiles, toys and tools owned by seven generations of Livingston and Kean families.
HQW Architects was retained to provide full architectural services for the renovation and conversion of the old Ice House into an archival storage facility. The challenge is to ensure the proper environment to store priceless artifacts, while respecting and preserving the rich history of the building. Working along with our architectural preservation expert, Wayne McCabe, the new facility includes environmental controls, a waterless fire suppression system, custom shelving, and updated security features.
